Welcome Eastern students, families, and community!

We are very excited to start a new school year at Eastern Middle/High School! The staff and administration are committed to serving your students and providing an educational experience that maximizes student potential and promotes high levels of student learning and achievement. As principal, I am extremely proud of our students and staff for their continued growth and achievement over the past six years. Not only has the building continued to increase state test scores across that time period, but we have also achieved the highest average test scores in Pike County for the sixth year in row! In 2023-2024, Eastern ranked 1st in the county in 8 of the 13 tested areas in grades 6-12, and 2nd in the county in 2 additional tested areas. Additionally, 7 tested areas were above the state average.

This year, we are very excited to announce a new consumer science program and a revamped technology program in our building! The consumer science program is an approved Ohio Career Technical Education (CTE) program that will operate on a careers pathway. The program will help students assess career interests and provide important life and career readiness skills, including communication and leadership skills, team building, conflict resolution, interview and negotiation skills, resume building, and more. The program will also help connect students to immediate job placement after graduation by exposing them to various career opportunities and placing them in job shadowing and work study opportunities. Finally, because the consumer science program will also include the financial literacy curriculum, our business/technology program will now focus solely on technology. This focus will allow the building to expand the technology program and add additional elective courses at the high school level, including additional advanced coding courses and a new digital media course. As we begin the new year, please be advised of the following:

• Final Forms must be reviewed and submitted each year. If you did not receive an email to update your forms, please click HERE.

• Please take time to carefully read and review the Eastern Middle/High School Student Handbook with your child; specifically, the student code of conduct and the attendance policy, available HERE.

• Middle/High School student drop-off and pick-up will continue to take place in the visitor parking lot. Students will enter/exit the front of the building using door 6. For safety, please do not drop off or pick up students in the upper parking lot which is designated for student drivers.

• Student drivers and drop-offs will not be permitted to enter the building prior to 7:50 a.m. Students are also required to leave the building at dismissal unless the student is under the supervision of an approved supervisor or staff member.
